A lot of people know there are bad chemicals in their food but they still keep on eating it. For example, McDonald’s has bad chemicals in their food, but people still keep on buying it and eating it. This is causing people to gain weight or even have cancer. The chemicals in the food that we eat can majorly impact us by causing health problems.
In fact even milk has toxic chemicals in them. The milk we produce here in the United States comes from cows injected with chemicals, and when we drink the milk the chemicals go inside our bodies. These types of chemicals can cause cancer. Even organic milk products can have chemicals in them. For example, in the article Ten Top Things Food Companies Don’t Want You To Know, it states that, “Even organic milk is now under fire as the Organic Consumers Association says Horizon Milk products are falsely labeled as organic.” (Mike, 2006) This proves that sometimes food companies lie on the label to trick you into buying the item and consuming the toxic chemicals.
There are many toxic chemicals in our food, such as Formaldehyde. This type of chemical can cause your throat and eyes to burn, nose to be stuffy and skin rashes. It also causes headaches, fatigue, respiratory symptoms and nausea. It can be found in some foods, such as some types of Italian cheeses, dried foods, and fish. It can also be found in furniture and household items. For example, in the article Harmful Chemicals To Avoid, it says that, “It can be found in pressed wood medium density fiberboard and furniture (used for drawer fronts, cabinets, furniture tops) and in cleaning and beauty products.” (Keely, 2013) This proves that we have to be careful with the food that we put into our mouths.
Equally important, most of packaged foods we consume contain toxic chemicals. A lot of the products sold here, in the U.S, are banned outside our country. Us Americans are at risk of eating toxic chemicals and having severe health problems. For example, in the article 80 Percent of Packaged Foods May Contain Dangerous Chemicals, it confirms, “Grocery shop items including best-selling soft-drinks and cereal sold in the U.S contain additives such as brominated vegetable oil, olestra and others that have been banned in European Union and elsewhere.” This proves that the U.S government doesn’t care about our health and that’s why we are the #1 country containing obesity.
In conclusion, there are many toxic chemicals in the food we eat that can impact on us by causing many health problems. I believe that the reason the government doesn’t want us to know there are toxic chemicals in the food we buy, is money. The government only cares about money, so they trick us into buying products with harmful chemicals inside them therefore, causing Americans with many health problems.
